Articles on Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is an ancient healing art which uses the essential oils extracted from various aromatic plants to help balance body and mind.  Aromatherapy is the therapeutic use of essential oils, the concentrated, fragrant extracts of plants, to promote relaxation and help relieve various symptoms of many undesirable conditions.  Even before distillation techniques were perfected, aromatic herbs were burned as incense, used externally in ointments, internally in medicines, and for personal adornment.  Massage with scented oils is one of the oldest, and most luxurious, therapeutic practices.  Aromatherapy is used to affect the emotions of a person and to relieve physical ailments.  Aromatherapy can form part of a holistic healing regime as well as being a preventative therapy in its own right.  It is a great pleasure to the senses and helps create a favorable environment in body and mind for natural healing to take place.
